10 Darkest Vaults In Fallout History

1. Vault 75

If you thought things couldn’t get more depressing, let me introduce you to Vault 75, the Malden Middle School vault.

Like so many of these vaults, the reasoning behind this one and the subsequent pitch given to would-be residents made a lot of sense from the outset. The vault was located under the school so that in the case of nuclear fallout, the children, teachers, and parents could be safe. When nuclear war did break out, all of the above groups made their way to the vault. But there was a catch. Isn’t there always. The children were separated from the adults with the latter sent into an orientation program.

But think less ‘let’s run you through where the bathrooms are located’ and more ‘let’s straight up run you through’.

Every adult save for those running the facility were executed, but if you’re waiting to hear if the kids were at least headed for a kinder fate, not so much. The vault was intended to create a stronger gene pool, so, basically the weak were killed outright, the smart were integrated into the science team, the strong were bred with one another and then harvested for their organs. I don’t have much of a happy ending for you here but eventually one of the brains in the science department staged a coup leaving the inhabitants either dead or long gone by the time you come across it in Fallout 4.
