10 Dead Video Game Characters You Can Actually Save
6. Pahn - Suikoden
Fully completing any game in the Suikoden series without a walkthrough is a triumph in itself.
As if finding the right times and circumstances to recruit all of its 108 characters aren't enough, many of those characters can also die permanently. Finish the game with even one missing or dead, and no "true" ending for you.
As one of your starting teammates, Pahn is one of the more boring characters out of the enormous cast. Odds are very good that you'll forget all about him fairly early on, leaving him vastly under-leveled by the end of the game.
Early in the story, Pahn challenges your protagonist's father to a duel, which he actually is supposed to lose. Late in the game, they have a rematch and dad is even stronger this time. If you haven't used Pahn much, you may think this fight is also unwinnable. Pahn will die, for good, robbing you of the best ending.
So believe me when I say you want to keep this boring karate man with you for as much of the game as possible. That, or be prepared to do a whole lot of grinding.
