Turok is a first person shooter video game franchise based on the comic book character of the same name. The first entry in the series, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997 and went on to produce several sequels.

The last we saw from the franchise came in 2008, with a reboot simply titled Turok. The game was developed by Propaganda Games and published by Disney Interactive studios. It had no ties to the previous entries and was met with mostly positive reviews and a respectable sales performance. This led to a sequel entering development, though Disney decided to close down Propaganda in 2011, meaning the game never saw the light of day.

We most certainly don't get enough games featuring dinosaurs, with only Ark: Survival Evolved delivering on that premise in recent years. First-person shooters are also more popular than ever, with some of the most played games in the world like Call of Duty being in this genre.

With next generation systems traversing jungles and hunting dinosaurs could look and feel amazing and we are hopeful that one day, we see Turok make a triumphant return to our TVs.
