Chrono Trigger is a classic RPG developed by Square for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, originally releasing in 1995. The game achieved massive critical and commercial success, incorporating groundbreaking features such as alternate endings, side quests and detailed graphics. It has a long lasting legacy, widely considered by many to be one of the greatest games of all time.

The game received a sequel called Chrono Cross in 1999 for the PlayStation, once again receiving glowing reviews and exceptional sales. A third game was planned which would have been Chrono Break but was subsequently cancelled.

Rumors have been circulating recently that a remake or remaster of Chrono Cross is in development for the PlayStation 5. One JRPG remake has been incredibly popular in recent years, with Final Fantasy 7's remake selling over 3.5 million copies in the first 3 days alone.

Despite Final Fantasy having a much larger appeal, a similar treatment for Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross would likely build hype among fans new and old. With these rumors, speculation and discussions swirling around the internet, we may actually see the return of the Chrono series sooner rather than later.
