10 Demos BETTER Than The Actual Game
6. Resident Evil 6
...but we'd be lying.
Resident Evil 6 is one of the biggest disappointments in video game history (sorry, Mr. Pooley) which makes the demo all the more impressive. Capcom assiduously selected highlights from the game's three campaigns, making each seem better than it actually was.
Leon's demo took players through his opening level, conveniently the only part of RE 6 that remembers to include the "horror" part of "survival horror"; Chris' demo wisely excised the tedious, overly long boss battles that would blight his campaign; and Jake's demo did include a decent boss battle, but neglected to reveal you would fight this same exact boss on four separate (and increasingly tiresome) occasions.
Resident Evil 6's demo showed the proof in the adage that a little goes a long way, as RE 6's flaws only become more pronounced the longer the games goes on. Overuse of QTE's, belief-beggaringly long boss fights, horrendously dull vehicle sections - none of these game design sins are apparent in the demo, but become wearisomely familiar sights in the full game.
(On that note, whoever designed Jake's motorcycle excursion should be strapped to a Super Hang-On machine and forced to play until their eyes bleed).
