10 Demos That Made You AVOID Video Games
5. Diablo Immortal
When you get on stage at BlizzCon - Activision Blizzard's own personal E3 - and announce, "We LOVE Diablo," you had better be announcing the newest numbered entry in the beloved series. What you better not do, is announce a mobile game. But that's exactly what Blizzard did at BlizzCon 2018.
The announcement of mobile game Diablo Immortal was met mostly with silence. The next pitch that Diablo is "fun for the whole family" was met mostly with confusion. The demo ended to polite applause. The audience was hardly excited, but they still had good manners.
However, during the following Q and A, one hopeful fan asked if the game would be coming to PC. When told it would not, fans booed, which resulted in the unfortunate, "You guys have phones, right?" comment from the presenters.
Aside from being insulting, it also begs the question of who is this for? The advertised Diablo experience isn't really the kind of thing that can be enjoyed in a waiting room or on a short train commute. And the robust new features - ones often requested by the community for Diablo III - are now exclusive to an inferior version of the game.
Boo, indeed. Boooo.
