10 Demos That Made You AVOID Video Games
4. Battlefield 2042
It's no secret that Dice and EA's Battlefield 2042 was nothing short of a disaster when it launched in 2021. The generally beloved first-person shooter, known for it s massive multiplayer battles, had seen its ups and downs over the years, but 2042's combination of reinventing the wheel with a slew of changes on top of the technically unstable product drove it into oblivion, garnering a Metacritic user score of 2.6.
Fortunately for gamers, however, the demo version was a surprisingly accurate representation of the full experience.
Why in the world EA would release a demo replete with glitches, performance issues and frequent crashes - much less when the real game shared all these same issues - is a mystery.
For many players, the inability to even launch the demo due to one error or another told them all they needed to know. So while 2042 definitely deserved its derision at launch, the silver lining for a lot of fans was they knew not to waste their money.
