10 Devastating Emotional Video Game Moments That Came Out Of Nowhere

Solaire is good, but no one beats the Onion Knight in terms of lovability. And while everyone will herald Solaire's tragic arc, Siegmeyer of Catarina bears an even more gut-wrenching and poignant end.

Adventuring through Lordran beside the Onion Knight, you end up saving him from various struggles and challenges. Whether it's opening the gates to Sen's Fortress or sparing him some poison curing moss when he's stuck in a poison swamp, you're always looking out for him and getting him where he needs to go. He's a lovable and hopeless idiot.

But as you venture, you meet his daughter who is searching for her father to take him home, and the two final reunite at the bottom of the world in Ash Lake, where she finds him Hollow (the zombified state those in Dark Souls enter into after death). You find her after having killed her father, and there is nothing like the moment you realise what has happened.

There is something so heartbreaking about finding the loveable idiot that you helped through thick and thin, just... gone. There is rarely a happy ending in Dark Souls, but Siegmeyer's is just brutal.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
