7. Cayde-6 - Destiny 2: Forsaken

This is a bit of a weird one because we certainly did expect Cayde-6 might die after watching the Destiny 2: Forsaken trailer at E3 in 2018 that showed him getting shot by Uldren Sov, but no-one expected him to be truly dead and gone. Particularly given the character was a total fan favourite and voiced by Nathan Fillion.

Even if Forsaken’s cover art was the player carrying Cayde’s lifeless body.

The death of the beloved smart-talking hunter was confirmed when we had to watch Ulrden hold him at gunpoint with his own weapon, the Ace of Spades. At least Cayde got one more verbal jab in there before the end, asking Uldren how his sister is doing, but it’s safe to say Bungie succeeded in giving us plenty of reason to swear vengeance on Uldren and the Scorn Barons.
