10 Disappointing Games That Tricked Us With Brilliant Trailers
3. ZombiU
ZombiU was meant to be the WiiU's tour de force exclusive. Revealed with an explosive trailer at E3 2012 it looked exciting, gruesome, innovative, and genuinely terrifying. It was one of the rare M-rated titles to hit a Nintendo system and everyone was excited to see how the gamepad would be integrated. However, all the innovations can't make up for all the game's shortcomings. Each time you die within the game you switch to a new character, which is an interesting concept that very few games tackle and there's a reason for that: it isn't easy. The switches aren't always fluid, sometimes other characters don't react to your character being switched leading to confusion. Additionally, the combat is repetitive and the only weapon at your disposal at all times is a cricket bat, with guns and ammo a rarity. That means you are endlessly swinging your cricket bat at zombies for what feels like eternity, and in the end, what could have been a system seller for the struggling WiiU was dull and lifeless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPHPd1EP_c8
