10 Disappointing Video Games That Never Lived Up To The Hype

9. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

GTA definitive edition
Activision Blizzard

In a truly ironic twist of fate, the series which singlehandedly birthed the phenomenon of skateboarding games also made sure to well and truly kill it with the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 in 2015.

In the mid 2000s it was almost impossible to find anyone who didn't have a copy of either Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 or 4 in their collection, as the series was absolutely massive. Then in 2014, 12 years after the release of Pro Skater 4, fans were ecstatic at the announcement that the cult series would finally be receiving a sequel in 2015.

The sad truth of the matter however, was that the licensing deal Activision held to use the name and character of Tony Hawk was set to expire at the end of 2015. As a result the game was thrown together over a few months and released in an unfinished state to make sure Activision could squeeze every last penny out of the iconic brand.

Upon release, the game was slated for its outdated graphics that looked even worse than titles released over a decade ago. On release day the game was also totally unplayable without downloading an 8GB patch.

To date, THPS 5 is almost impossible to play due to numerous game breaking bugs that have never been fixed.
