10 Disappointing Video Games That Never Lived Up To The Hype
8. Assassin's Creed Unity
The successor to the widely acclaimed Assassin's Creed IV : Black Flag was a hugely anticipated release. Assassin's Creed : Unity was also set to be the first Assassin's Creed game developed specifically with the then next generation consoles of the Xbox One and PS4 in mind.
After an exciting reveal at E3 2014 including showcasing the new innovations made possible with the next generation consoles and an extensive promotional campaign, the game was released with well, a few issues.
Aside from the stunning visuals and character design which certainly did deliver, the game was put out in an unfinished state, with numerous nightmarish glitches hampering its release. There were also issues with the online mode of the game, with things being so bad Ubisoft ended up apologising.
Along with their apology, Ubisoft announced that the first DLC pack for the game would be made available for free as compensation. Another bizarre decision on the part of Ubisoft that angered fans was the lack of gender options for the creation of characters online.
This left gamers, journalists, and even fellow developers deeply disappointed with a game that was supposed to be the high point of the Assassin's Creed series at that point.
