When you think of XCOM, this title doesn't come to mind, and there is a very good reason for it.

XCOM is a long-running series known for its strategy and punishing repercussions for failure. Now it's not to say that developers Firaxis can't take XCOM in a new direction, but they picked the wrong fanbase to disappoint.

After the series hadn't been seen since 2001 The Bureau was originally slated to launch before the acclaimed hit Enemy Unknown which because a true return to form for XCOM. First rumoured by Kotaku, The Bureau would see a focus on third-person tactical squad combat, much like the SOCOM series, but set in the sixties shooting aliens. More importantly, it wasn't a top-down, turn-based affair.

It played fine, but was more of a half-baked idea like not enough butter spread over too much bread, only looking passable for the year it was launched.

This felt like Firaxis trying to make an XCOM game that wasn't really XCOM at all.
