10 Disastrous Video Game Sequels That Forgot What Fans Want

The Legacy of Kain series was once a beloved cult classic adored by fans, but with Nosgoth they didn't get the follow-up sequel they were after. Instead, in an effort to capitalise on the always online experience, Square Enix decided Nosgoth should be a multiplayer arena shooter.

Spawning from Dead Sun - an already failed attempt to bring back the Legacy of Kain franchise - this should've had alarm bells ringing from the very get-go. If developers couldn't get a true sequel off the ground, then what did a free to play arena-based combat experience which pit teams of vampire hunters against vampires have, in an already crowded marketplace?

Nosgoth never even left the beta stage and the developers behind it may have had good intentions of saving the franchise, but sometimes it's best not to reinvent the wheel and stick to what works.
