10 Disastrous Video Game Sequels That Forgot What Fans Want
4. Command & Conquer: Rivals
EA once again makes an appearance on this list, once again finding themselves on the chopping block as the microtransaction/loot box debate is still going with no sign of either side budging.
So what better way to win back some of the fans than by revealing the next game in one of EA's franchises that had remained dormant since 2010? Command & Conquer: Rivals, a Clash Royale-inspired followup to a strategy-heavy franchise, was shown off on EA's E3 stage.
At first, a mobile Command & Conquer game that can be played on the go sounds perfect, but nothing is that simple. Rivals is no more than your standard mobile game designed to take the players money with a new skin. Gameplay boils down to build the most basic of bases on the right, and send units to the left, with capturing missile stations being the goal.
None of the hallmarks of the series has made it to this phone game, but most disappointingly - there is no sign of goofy FMV here. At least we got the Command & Conquer Remastered Collection after this.
