7. Dead Space
Over to almost the videogame equivalent of the Alien franchise; Dead Space. The first game in the series was higher on jump-scares and atmosphere, whereas the second (like all great horror franchises) started accompanying these pant-shatteringly-effective sections of the game with bucketloads of gore should you happen to fail an encounter. Dead Space is one of those games thats just trying to kill you, as even outside these encounters there were chances to get caught off guard, and seconds later suffer any number of horrifically grisly deaths. Enter the 'eye surgery' scene. For reasons unnecessary for this post, lets just say you come across a machine that requires the extracting of some key information from protagonist Isaac Clarke...through his eyeballs. After placing yourself on the machine, the needle descends and Isaac gets increasingly more scared of what (inevitably) is going to happen.
