10 Divisive Video Games You Either Love Or Hate
10. Heavy Rain
Heavy Rain was a rather bizarre game in the sense that it focussed less on the game aspect of the game and more so on the story, selling itself more as an interactive movie than a game. In doing so it inspired an entire subgenre of game that blew up quickly with several games following in its footsteps.
And a lot of people loved that aspect and found the story to be engaging and interesting. However, a lot of people disliked the game based purely on the fact that it wasn't focussed on the game aspect. The game-play was largely quick time events interspersed with explorative portions in which you inspected objects in an environment to uncover clues.
It was largely down to personal preference because the game really wasn't for everyone. The lack of gameplay turned a lot of hardcore gamers away, as the game itself required a huge time investment to complete. And if you weren't invested in the story, then it became an immense slog to work through. But those who loved the slow paced action found it to be an excellent game!
