8. League of Legends/DOTA

Games like League of Legends and Dota are almost entirely based on preference. People who love the style of game absolutely love it and sink days of time into playing the game and becoming great at it. And while the games inspire devotion in their fans, they inspire a lot of disdain from other gamers who see them as a general waste of time with little to no gameplay, a rabidly obsessive fanbase and a steep learning curve to even access the game.

That's not to mention the fact that each game inspires their own love it or hate it attitudes, with the fanbases of both games heralding their one as the best and the other as the bane of all things good in the world, despite being fundamentally equal games. Sure they have their differences, but they aren't enough to inspire a major shift in opinion.

However, people love their one and hate the other despite their comparable similarities. Either that or you hate the genre entirely and find it to be a completely bizarre type of gaming.
