The last time we wrote about this, it was an impossible dream thanks to toy manufacturer Character Building having the license to all Doctor Who construction toys. But as of this year; Character Buildings license has expired, leaving the door wide open for a Lego Doctor Who game. Leaving aside the question of whether or not it would be a smart business move, Lego and Doctor Who go together perfectly in terms of tone and target audience, and there has never been a better time for a Lego Doctor Who game. 2013s Lego Marvel Superheroes has shown just how far the game engine used by Travellers Tales has come in the past nine years and its now at a point where it could easily support a franchise as massive as Doctor Who. The staggeringly vast New York City hub featured in Lego Marvel Superheroes could easily translate over to a modern day London area, and the games capability of supporting more than one-hundred-and-fifty different characters means that all of the programmes recurring characters and then some could be incorporated. Plus the medium would allow for a story featuring all thirteen Doctors for the first time. The scope and processing power for a Lego Doctor Who game are there. Its a just a matter of somebody at Travellers Tales seeing the potential and deciding to set the wheels in motion. What Doctor Who games would you like to see?
