In the late nineties and early noughties, a racing game was almost a given for child-friendly characters and entertainment franchises. Everything from Super Mario to the Muppets, and even M&Ms got their own racing game. And while most of them were god-awful (Crazy Frog Racer anyone?), some of the earlier games before it became such a cash cow had a lot going for them. And with enough care and attention, Doctor Who could become one of the good ones. Its not even something that needs a narrative or to tie into the programme. Its a genre that can just be a daft bit of fun while playing off of the conventions of the source material to add something original. And although the Tardis doesnt really transfer well to a racing game, there are still a lot of characters and vehicles that could be used well. Especially if a more cartoonish character and vehicle design was used to help up the silliness factor. After all, who wouldnt want to see something like a cartoon Cyberman with a massive head laying down an oil slick or firing a rocket at another racer? It wouldnt be anything groundbreaking but could still be an amusing bit of fluff for the casual gamer.
