10 Dream N64 Games We Need On Nintendo Switch
6. Iggy's Wreckin' Balls
***please correct title - "Iggy's Reckin' Balls"***
To be honest, we just want this game to resurface on the Switch to prove we didn’t dream it. There are plenty of weird games on N64 (Buck Bumble, for example, is about a heavily armed bee), but Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls must take the prize for oddity.
It’s a racing game with a twist - or rather, several twists, some better thought out than others. You pick between one of a selection of spheres (including the titular Iggy, who’s an iguana apparently) and race to the top of a tower. You do this by leaping from platforms, utilising a grappling hook, taking advantage of speed boosting surfaces, and so forth.
There are also combat elements - you can use your hook for offensive purposes, grabbing a competitor in an unsportsmanlike fashion and smashing them to the ground, among other weapons. It’s Mario Kart meets the original Donkey Kong, only it’s not altogether much like either one of them.
Is it any good? Well, sort of. When you get to grips with what you’re supposed to be doing, the physics are actually quite cool and it makes for fun if frustrating racing. If you’re after a weird afternoon, though, Iggy is the one.
