10 Dream Star Wars Games And Who Should Develop Them

Star Wars: Republic Commando is one of the most loved, yet most regularly overlooked Star Wars games of all time.

Released in 2005, and set between the events of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, the game followed the lives of four distinctly different clone troopers, as they waged war against Separatist forces on Kashyyyk and Geonosis.

Troopers ‘Boss’, ‘Scorch’, ‘Fixer’ and ‘Sev’ were a riot to spend time with, and although Republic Commando may have seemed like your average, nuts and bolts sci-fi shooter on the surface, it actually packed a significant emotional punch in its closing moments.

Its one major flaw? It was way too short.

Fans were clamouring for a sequel, especially since the game ended on a huge cliff-hanger, just as Emperor Palpatine was about to execute Order 66.

Despite there being plenty of scope for an Imperial Commando game that followed the same group of clones (albeit this time serving the Empire), the project was canned early on in production. That doesn’t mean it couldn’t come back though.

A studio like Bungie would be a great fit for an Imperial Commando game; they’ve got years of experience crafting punchy, chaotic shooters about specially bred soldiers wearing buckets on their heads, and Halo: Reach showed that they could tell an emotionally gripping story about camaraderie and friendship.
