9. E3 Ubisoft 2016 - Ghost Recon Co-op Demo
The return of Ghost Recon was meant to be a sweet highlight after the triumph of Rainbow Six: Siege in 2015. Ubisoft are no strangers to the copy-paste formula of Assassin's Creed, Far Cry (all of them) and so forth, but Ghost Recon was always a beloved hardcore tactical shooter series that arguably hit its high point with 2006's Advanced Warfighter which stunned everyone on the Xbox 360.
Fast-forward to 2016 and we get a gameplay demo that sucks all the joy out of emergent, unplanned moments in a riotous co-op shooter. The demo had plenty of over-the-top, supposedly unscripted "moments" of team chatter that made the sequences boring to watch.
Viewers couldn't even think for themselves as players shouted out try-hard comments like "high value target" and "Damn, looks like a whole lot of trouble!" or even the "Tango down. Let's move!" shout out.
It all came off as an elementary/primary school drama production. But somehow worse.
