10 Most Enjoyable Set-Pieces In The Uncharted Trilogy
7. Nazis In The Jungle (U1)
The first Uncharted game was groundbreaking, given the stunning visuals, solid gameplay and sizable scope that it offered so early on in the Playstation 3's life cycle. In retrospect, however, it's story was somewhat lacking in comparison to its successors, and there was very little in the way of memorable set-pieces, given that the action was an elementary mix of climbing, shooting and puzzles from start to finish. Perhaps the most awe-inspiring moment therefore comes very early on in proceedings, as Nate and Sully make their way through the Amazon rainforest and come across a Nazi U-Boat in the middle of a waterfall. An unlikely sight, it sets the tone for what is to come across the entire trilogy by instilling players with the belief that anything can happen. Drake explores the wreckage, inadvertently blowing it up when he activates a torpedo. This is, however, a beneficial mistake, as it allows him to make a dramatic escape from the villainous Gabriel Roman (also British, sensing a trend here...), who has arrived at the scene and taken Sully hostage at gunpoint in Drake's absence.
