10 Most Enjoyable Set-Pieces In The Uncharted Trilogy
6. Convoy Hopping (U3)
Desert levels, when featured in games, are typically boring drawn-out affairs. Deserts are of course, barren and featureless landscapes, so this is somewhat understandable. Uncharted 3 tried to break the mould, however, by featuring a vehicle-hopping extravaganza within its desert chapters, building upon a similar chapter that was featured in a mountain level of Uncharted 2. Beginning on horseback (a transport method made cool again by John Marston), Drake and a group of newfound Bedouin allies pursue a heavily armoured convoy belonging to the villainous Katherine Marlowe (Guess her nationality...). It quickly becomes a manic sequence, as trucks, jeeps and motorcycles must all be destroyed as Drake constantly hops between his equine companion and vehicles that rapidly come under heavy fire as his presence within them becomes known. The general lack of ammunition makes this sequence (and the one that follows it, a shoot-out in some desert ruins) a highly challenging one, but one that is nevertheless enjoyable to replay in order to formulate new strategies and conquer the difficulty.
