10 Essential PS4 Games You Must Play In 2018
8. The Inpatient
The PSVR is an amazing piece of tech, but since it released back in 2016, it hasn't exactly been flooded with must-play experiences. Supermassive Games are doing their best to remedy that though, and are once again dipping back into the Until Dawn universe with a new virtual reality survival horror title set to drop at the end of January.
Retaining the directors and writers of that original game, the prequel is set to be a true instalment in the franchise (unlike the admittedly awesome but name-only spin-off Rush of Blood), doubling-down on the horror elements found in that terrifying story-driven release. Dropping players into Blackwood Sanatorium 60 years before it was overrun by Wendigos, the horror game is emphasising psychological terror rather than jump scares, introducing binaural audio and putting players in the shoes of an unreliable narrator.
Originally set to hit shelves last year, the title was delayed a few months for added polish, which admittedly set off a few alarm bells. Still, Supermassive haven't put a foot wrong yet, and there's no reason to believe that they won't deliver the definitive PSVR horror experience later this month.
