Announced at PSX back in 2015, the sequel to Studio Ghibli and Level 5's adored JRPG Ni No Kuni quickly became one of the biggest must-play titles coming to the PS4.

Despite suffering through a few delays, the long-anticipated follow up has finally settled on a March release date, and is poised to offer the perfect antidote to some of the year's samey AAA blockbusters. Colourful, magical experiences like this are quickly taking precedent over drab shooters and loot grinds, and as long as the sequel has a story a fraction as engrossing as the original game, then players will no doubt find themselves losing days inside its wistful world.

Although there's been a long wait between sequels, the ambitious mix of narrative and gameplay featured in Ni No Kuni 2 isn't easily brought to life, and now that Studio Ghibli is no longer in the picture, the extended development process is more than welcome if it results in a game as joyful and mesmerising as the original.
