10 Exact Moments That Made Fans Hate Gaming Franchises
6. Dante Gets A Makeover - Devil May Cry
Ninja Theory's 2013 DmC reboot was always going to be a tough proposition to fans, and Capcom sure didn't help things by insisting on a drastic re-design of beloved protagonist Dante in the hope of appealing to a younger player-base.
Though DmC was actually a relatively fun game, it required players to deal with a garishly re-imagined character who lacked the charm and badass look of the classic Dante.
Between his rubbish clothes, naff haircut (that isn't even white!), thinner frame and general emo-baiting appearance, DmC Dante feels like what you get when you ask a 60-year-old studio executive what they think an emo kid actually looks like.
Given that Capcom was clearly going all-in on the new Dante, fans were largely left apathetic, resulting in DmC under-performing commercially, and eventually leading to fans getting exactly what they wanted: another Devil May Cry game starring the traditional Dante.
Shame we had to wait six years for it, though.
