10 Exceptional First-Person Shooter Games That Defined The Last 10 Years
2. Halo 3
The Halo series has been a staple in the Xbox family for years, often swaying people towards buying an Xbox exclusive console. Halo 3 was an amazing step in the right direction for the ever-growing franchise. Building upon the 2nd one, Halo 3 branches out from its predecessor by adding more options and mods then ever before. The story mode is a blast to play and keeps you engaged by rotating from being on foot to driving the vehicles of old, as well as some new ones like the brute prowler, and a two-person vehicle (complete with turrets!). The game picks up where Halo 2 left us feeling disappointed. Master Chief continues his quest to stop The Covenant from activating the space weapons. Doing so will take over 10 hours to complete, as the campaign is more than worth the price of the game itself. However, the biggest selling point of the game is the four-player online co-op mode. This mode allows you to play with up to 3 friends online, an option which the previous two entires lacked. It also allows you to play any of the nine chapters in any order you please, as well as letting you make things more interesting by turning on a scoring system which monitors your kills and deaths, adding a new competitive element to the game. As Microsoft continues to crank out Halo games, it's this third installment that left us wanting more. Let's hope the next generation of Halo games quenches the thirst of its fans the way this one did.
