10 Exceptional Moments In Otherwise Disappointing Video Games

1. Your First Few Steps Into The Universe - No Man’s Sky

Hello Games

At this stage, 'No Man’s Sky' and 'disappointing' feel like they form an instinctual sentence without even trying, but while the world was busy proclaiming the hate and burning the game as the embodiment of the anti-Christ, they looked over the fact that it wasn’t that bad.

Maybe it wasn’t fifty pounds worth of good, but it had some moments. Some great moments. For example, no one can argue that starting on an alien planet with a broken ship and no idea where to go in a seemingly infinite world wasn’t fun.

Piecing together your tattered vessel, building what needs to be built while exploring the desolate land around you was so exciting, all the while staring up the sky, knowing that there is an infinite number of places to go, things to explore and creatures to interact with.

Finally getting your ship in a good enough state to explore the cosmos, you took off and flew straight up, out of the atmosphere, through the clouds and into the stars. That feeling was something mighty special indeed.

It’s a shame that after an hour you realised just how limited what you were exploring truly was, but that starting feeling was pretty amazing right? Right?

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
