10 Fan-Made Video Game Remakes That Were Better Than The Original
3. Chrono Trigger: Resurrection
Not enough good things can be said about Chrono Trigger and just how good that game will always be. But despite all the acclaim, the massive fandom, and the good sales, Square Enix seem happy to let the Chrono franchise gather dust - all whilst they continue to wring what little life there is left in their other franchises such as Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider. Seeing as how Chrono Trigger was due for an update and sensing an opportunity to do something great, a group of fans led by Nathan Lazur started working on a remake in 2003. This wasn't some half-assed job that was done on a lazy Sunday though. The Chrono Resurrection project attracted experienced game developers and artists from the industry, all of whom had some serious game-making chops. From the released artwork, development screenshots and 3D demos, the remake was going to be something special. The graphics were spectacular despite the team's limited resources, the artwork and tone was brilliantly faithful to the original, and the soundtrack was updated with an awesome remix. With video game critics and prominent publications declaring the game quality to be 'professional', a good amount of buzz was gathering before the game was completed. Unfortunately, just months before the greatest video game fan remake ever was released, Square Enix decided to rain all over this parade by issuing a cease and desist letter, which is why this isn't higher on the list, and why you'll sadly never be able to play it. Way to go, Square Enix...
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
