10 Fantastic Open-World Video Games Coming In 2015

6. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Alongside another entry on this list, MGS is one of two major franchises making the leap to an open-world formula in 2015, and with creative madman Hideo Kojima being the kind of person to include chicken-hatted costumes alongside storylines that tell of child soldiers and tortured captives, it's going to be one hell of a trip. Gamers got a taste of what an open-world Metal Gear was back in the first couple of open levels in MGS 4, although it was with last year's Ground Zeroes that the formula was refined into a product whose structure wasn't just 'get from point A to B'. Now Snake has access to a chopper he can call in to extract soldiers, a Fulton Recovery System that'll let you airlift anything from jeeps and soldiers to turrets and even small animals. Why? Because Kojima, that's why. Throw in vehicles to dart around the ginormous world maps and a slew of new abilities, and if ol' Koj can nail the narrative this could be the best Metal Gear since Snake Eater.
