10 Final Fantasy Characters Who Almost Ruined Their Own Games

7. Cait Sith (Final Fantasy VII)

You have to be especially abnormal to be the weirdest character in a game featuring a vampire, a man with a gun for an arm and a talking animal. Cait Sith is definitely abnormal though; he's a giant stuffed animal controlled by a robotic cat with a megaphone (who's actually being controlled by Reeve of Shinra - you know, the bad guys). Upon joining the party in the Gold Saucer, Cait Sith acts as a spy for Shinra. Cloud quickly suspects that the group has a spy within its midsts but doesn't seem to suspect the new guy at all. Later on, he steals a key item from the group (the key to the Temple Of The Ancients) and hands it to Shinra. When caught, he reveals his true colours but then announces he's holding Barret's daughter hostage, forcing the group to keep him around. It's fair to say that he's not a team player. Cait Sith's redemption arrives in the Temple Of The Ancients when he sacrifices himself to get the Black Materia. However, mere minutes later, an identical replacement shows up, making the entire sacrifice ordeal irrelevant. On top of all of this, in battle, his limit break is entirely random and has a chance to give you an immediate Game Over screen; Cait Sith might be the first character you've ever wanted to literally knock the stuffing out of.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
