10 Final Fantasy Characters Nobody EVER Used
1. Cait Sith (VII)
Almost the entire cast of Final Fantasy VII is held in high regard by fans. Each hero and villain alike brings something different to the table in terms of plot and personality, from Cid’s gruff sweariness to Vincent’s dark and mysterious persona that was a decade ahead of the emo, scene and vampire subcultures that were in vogue in the 2000s.
The use of the materia system makes each of the nine party members versatile, with their limits and weapons again the only thing to really differentiate them from one another. All but two characters have four levels of Limit Break, with two abilities in the first three and one in the fourth for a total of seven overall. Vincent is the first exception, having one transformation (and two attacks associated with each) per level. Cait Sith is the second.
A stuffed cat/moogle combination that fights with a megaphone and is controlled by a Shinra executive (Reeve) sympathetic to the party’s cause, Cait Sith is a ridiculous character even before his limits are taken into account. The fact that he only has two levels of these, both luck-based (Dice and Slots) hugely massively restricts him given that everybody else bar Aeris can unleash a devastating single or multi-hit attack.
Nobody would’ve missed Cait Sith if his sacrifice at the Temple of the Ancients didn’t result in the immediate arrival of an identical replacement. He ultimately lacks any use in what is a very well balanced game otherwise.
