10 Final Fantasy Characters Nobody EVER Used

2. Porom (IV)

The original version of Final Fantasy IV gave players no choice over what characters they used throughout the game, with every new arrival to the party coming immediately before or after the departure of an existing member. This meant that the finale was always faced by the well-balanced fivesome of Cecil, Kain, Rosa, Rydia and Edge.

The Game Boy Advance and PSP remakes of the game threw a spanner into the works by making all of the other characters utilised across the journey available again upon its conclusion, with the obvious exception of the deceased Tellah.

This creates a countless array of new combination options – Edward goes from being a joke character to a damage-dealing beast at higher levels (though his development takes a lot of investment), Yang becomes a tank, Cid becomes extremely powerful physically and Palom becomes a good shout to become the party’s main black mage given that he learns spells a lot faster than Rydia (albeit he lacks her summons).

That leaves his twin sister Porom, who has no redeeming features to make her stand out above Rosa in the white mage role. Though Rosa’s unique commands (Aim and Pray) are fairly useless (at least until Pray is upgraded in the remake), Porom’s are no better, with Cry of questionable use and Twin requiring Palom to also be in the party to be used at all (and rarely worth the long charge time).
