10 Forgotten Nintendo 64 Gems You Need To Play In 2022

The N64 often receives criticism from gamers for its overtly child-friendly nature: most of the system’s games were meant to target younger audiences, and Nintendo’s preference for that demographic was reinforced by their decision to go with outdated-but-durable cartridges rather than adapting to CD technology.

There were, however, a few titles which defied the Nintendo norm, one of which was Shadow Man. A brooding dark fantasy tale, it is based on a relatively niche comic book series of the same name.

The player takes control of a man named Michael, a relatively unassuming character whose life quickly takes a macabre twist as he’s enslaved by a voodoo priestess and forced into taking down a group of otherworldly serial killers bent on destroying humanity—it’s about as crazy as it sounds.

The sinister, unnerving atmosphere and mix of third person shooting and platforming make for an exciting romp, and Shadow Man is a must-play for fans of Capcom’s brutal smash hit Resident Evil 2, which also found its way to the Nintendo 64.
