7. Oddworld Series

Ah, the Oddworld series. This started out with Abe's Odyssey on the PS1, following the titular Abe, a Mudokon, as he attempts to escape from Rupture Farms, where he learns that he and his fellow brethren are to be turned into the company's latest foodstuff. The game combined basic platforming with some puzzles and a distinct brand of humor. After escaping, there was a spin-off game called Abe's Exodus, where Abe now learns that his brethren are being exploited once again, this time to make Soulstorm Brew, a drink created with the bones and tears of his very species. Abe does what he does best and goes on another rescue mission to save as many as he can. This was followed in 2001 by Munch's Odyssey, with Abe returning to help a Gabbit called Munch to prevent his race from becoming extinct, due to Gabbit Eggs (also called Gabbiar) being a delicacy and Gabbit Lungs being used to replace the lungs of the chain-smoking, dominant species called Glukkons. Stranger's Wrath was the next Oddworld game to be released, though this time the game did not feature Abe. It followed Stranger, a feared bounty hunter, as he goes about earning "moolah" for a life-saving operation. This game departed from the platforming element of the previous games, opting instead for a first-person shooter aspect. The game was always noted for the use of its "live ammunition", namely plants and small mammals. Why it needs a comeback: Oddworld is a rich world, steeped in lore. A number of games were planned, but cancelled due to various reasons. What better way to reinvent the series than going back and actually making these games and allowing all us Oddworld fans to see the rich, exciting world that we were promised?
