3. Crash Bandicoot
He was the ADHD-suffering bandicoot we all loved from back in the days of the PS1. I don't think half the people knew what a bandicoot was before this game was released! This platformer centered around Crash, who lived in the fictional Wumpa Islands off the coast of Australia, though his nemesis and creator Dr. Neo Cortex shows up from time to time, determined to destroy Crash. The game followed some basic platforming concepts, such as collecting 100 "wumpa fruit" to gain an extra life, breaking boxes, and gaining invincibility when you collect Aku Aku masks (Aku Aku being the guardian of the Wumpa Islands and the general father figure of Crash). You saw the similarities between Mario, of course, but you really didn't care whilst playing. The game also had various coloured boxes that could damage Crash (nobody can forgot the TNT and Nitro varieties). Crash also enjoyed a spin-off game called
Crash Team Racing, a kart game where popular characters from the franchise appeared. Why it needs a comeback: Crash was a gaming icon and still is. His games were massively popular and appealed to a wide range of ages. Despite that the platform genre is often regarded as "too much of the same," Crash always brought a smile to your face when you played it due to the variety of levels in later games, such as riding on a tiger across the Great Wall of China or piloting your own plane.
