10 Franchises We Need To See Given The Lego Game Treatment
3. The Simpsons
Yes The Simpsons is a shadow of its former self. Yes it has gone on far too long. However believe it or not Lego has recently gained the rights to produce real sets based on Springfield's most dysfunctional family. In fact in the upcoming 25th season of The Simpsons there is even going to be a whole episode made out of Lego. Sure this sounds like a massive cash cow of an idea, but something great could potentially come out of this recent agreement; a Lego Video Game based upon The Simpsons could well be a match made in brick-heaven. While arguably The Simpsons has been going downhill since Season Nine, what's to stop developer Travellers' Tales revisiting some of the fans favourite episodes and remaking them in Lego form? Being able to play through iconic episodes such as You Only Move Twice and Marge Vs The Monorail would provide great fan service; as long as it was done right. The supporting characters of The Simpsons are possibly some of the most adored in television history and the potential to play as such characters as Ralph Wiggum and Mr Burns would be a real treat for fans of the show. Similarly TT Games should build off of the success of its advancements into open worlds in its Marvel and DC outings to finally create a fully fleshed out and traversable Springfield. If such a video game was ever to happen TT Games should take inspiration from the upcoming South Park video game The Stick Of Truth. Based on previews of the game, it really feels that through the direct involvement of creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, it is going to be a truly hilarious licensed game that is true to the source material filled to the brim with fan-service, and that is what a potential Simpsons game would need. Then again putting on the cynical hat it sounds like Fox is more than happy to just butcher The Simpsons even more with micro-transaction filled apps such as The Simpsons: Tapped Out, so hopefully they'll see the light.
