10 Franchises We Need To See Given The Lego Game Treatment

2. Doctor Who

If ever there is a franchise that is suited to a Lego video game it is the British sci-fi programme Doctor Who. The series has now been running for a staggering 50 years providing a rich catalogue of adventures and characters that could be added into the game, providing real fan service. I'm by no means suggesting a level based on the 1967 story The Underwater Menace but little easter eggs and references to past adventures would be much appreciated by fans of the series. The nature of the programme very much suits TT Games now tried and tested formula; almost every episode has the Doctor accompanied by at least one companion providing the opportunity for two-player cooperative play. Similarly the programme is very much a family based show (The Doctor usually abhors violence) that is currently at the height of its worldwide popularity. It has a strong back-catalogue of characters all with unique abilities (surely we're not the only one thinking Bonnie Langford's Mel character would have the special ability of a high-pitched scream that shatters glass?). Doctor Who video games have traditionally spectacularly misunderstood the source material and the nature of the programme. This has consistently resulted in creating mundane puzzle games and dull lifeless platformers. In stark contrast the 'Lego Formula' is perfect for the programme and with the show now riding on the highs of last year's 50th Anniversary it's a perfect opportunity to give The Doctor an adventure to remember in the Lego Universe.
