10 Friendly Video Games With One TERRIFYING Area
6. Queen Vanessa's Manor (A Hat In Time)
A Hat in Time is a 3D platformer primarily aimed at young audiences. Still, it's also a delight for grown-ups, thanks to its evident admiration of nostalgic touchstones like Banjo-Kazooie and Spyro the Dragon.
Still, there is one unexpected detour in this cute adventure that takes you to an area so creepy you'd think the devs were cackling maniacally as they made it.
Queen Vanessa's Manor is an area that'll knock your titular hat off. The manor comes complete with creepy visuals, jumpscares, pulse-pounding sound design that boosts the bass every time something unsettling happens, and, worst of all, a terrifying stalker enemy in Queen Vanessa.
This ghostly figure appears as a shadow, with her presence felt in almost every room you enter. You progress through the levels by collecting keys, with any noises causing her to enter the room and search for you. Her design, the booming music, and the unsettling vocal performance from Eileen Montgomery make her a stalker enemy you don't want to get caught by.
Like a few other entries on this list, A Hat in Time clearly wants to micro-dose kids on horror. Well, they've got to learn.
