10 From Software Bosses EVERYONE Hated Fighting

5. Bed Of Chaos - Dark Souls

Dark Souls has some of the densest lore present in fiction, and it's bosses have some brilliant, yet mostly tragic back stories. The Witch of Izalith is one of them, who tried to create a new flame instead of linking the old one, which corrupted her into becoming The Bed of Chaos, the birthplace of all things demonic in Lordran.

Unfortunately this cool backstory is the only saving grace of this boss fight, which still has people questioning what FromSoftware were thinking when they designed it. After all, the entire game so far is based on your ability to hack, slash, dodge and block the enemies in your way, but The Bed of Chaos doesn't care about any of that. It cares about your platforming skills, in a game that is in no way a platformer.

You have to destroy two glowing orbs either side of her, whilst the ground beneath you is crumbling and she's wailing at you with her branches.

The encounter seems to be entirely based on luck instead of skill, as you could potentially beat her without getting swiped off the edge once, if you just so happen to be running in the right place at the right time. And when you do get to inside the tree to find the Witch of Izalith now transformed into a sad looking bug, she dies in just a few hits.

The fact that this boss fight actually saves your progress after death suggests that even FromSoftware knew it was too unfair.
