10 Frustrating Mario Party Moments That Ruined Friendships

4. Game Guy

Screw this guy, man.

Game Guy is the bane of every Mario Party player's existence. Featured in Mario Party 3, this dude is a Shy Guy wearing a dumb purple bow tie who shows up if you're unfortunate enough to land on his space. He takes all your coins right off the bat and forces you into one of his stupid, one player minigames, all of which rely on chance and require no skill. That seems to be a theme here.

One involves a staircase that you climb up by rolling the dice, and the object is to get higher up the stairs than Shy Guy. That's it. No skill, just rolling a high enough number. Another one involves two boxes and you have to pick the right one. Hope you're good at guessing.

There's really no strategy to these games, and the worst part is that you don't even have a choice to take part in them or not. Sure, you can walk away with double your coins, but you can also lose everything in one single turn just because you happened to roll a 4 instead of a 6.

This part of the game doesn't get players turning on each other, but it's enough to ruin someone's mood for the rest of the game, and quite possibly rip their N64 controller out of the socket in anger.
