10 Frustrating Mario Party Moments That Ruined Friendships
3. Heat Stroke
Here's another 1 vs 3 minigame where it's actually designed to mess with the other players, because Nintendo programmers are pure evil.
The idea behind this one is that the three person team is standing on a pile of blocks. The one player is floating next to it with a hammer, knocking the blocks away. The three players have to jump at the exact right moment to avoid being knocked off.
Sounds easy enough, right? Well, there's one trick that makes this game brilliantly evil: the one player can press B to "fake swing," making it look like he's about to hit the block but then the hammer suddenly stops. And because after you jump it takes a second to jump again, the strategy becomes to do a fake swing, have everyone jump, and then do a real swing to knock them away.
So then this game becomes all about messing with the other players, and it's so weighted against the three person team that it becomes nearly impossible to win. Actually seeing the team win against the one player is so rare.
What makes it so annoying is that if you just watch it, it seems like it would be simple. But even if you go in full of confidence, you'll only end up coming away in frustration and tears. That's the Mario Party motto right there.
