10 Game Mechanics They DESPERATELY Wanted You To Love (But You Didn’t)

Hearing the words Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima, and base building in one sentence should conjure up excitement. The bizarre mind of this legendary creative combined with this typically fun gameplay trope will surely be wild and fun, right? Well, sadly, Kojima's use of a base-building mechanic in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was nothing but dull, dull, dull

Known as Mother Base, this HQ was a chance for players to take a break between missions, spending their time there expanding, building, and getting to know their crew. Unfortunately, this was all about as exciting as a ride on the bus, as the side missions were bland at best, the base itself was muted and visually boring, and almost everything you could do felt like pointless busywork.

Kojima seemed to believe players would love the chance to make a base of operations. The only problem is that he forgot to make it fun or rewarding. Oh, and the less said about the FOB micro-transactions, the better.
