4. Infamous
Cole McGruff....I mean McGrath was just a simple bike messenger until BANG! His delivery goes boom and he wakes up in a crater. Only, he isn't hurt. In fact, he's got electricity super powers and is basically a total bad ass. The key for translating the character to film is making him an anti-hero. Not an angel or a devil like the game, but a reluctant, mean and violent guy who will do the right thing just about. You might see this as fence sitting but it is the only way to really give McGrath a fair reflection of both sides of his bi-polar personality. The colour of his lightning could change depending on his mood, thus giving us both blue and red bolts of awesomes. So who would direct it? Well I'd say McG.......nah just kidding. Maybe Joss Whedon as he'd be good at balancing the action with the comedy banter that is so crucial to the relationship between Cole and Zeke. I would cast someone physical in the role; Jasan Statham certainly has the action chops and looks the part too but he isn't the most well rounded actor. Still, when you are shooting lighting from your tits, does it matter? Still, perhaps Sam Worthington would be a better choice. The reason this would work so well is the combination of a simple, classic superhero narrative and a main character with awesome abilities. The key set pieces in the game also lend them selves well to film, such as the closing of the bridge scene. The key would be in portraying everything as a real world scenario, so playing on how f'ed up it would be if some mad bomb went off and you found your self caged in a city where crazy hoodies are shooting people up and some dude has super powers and is running around like a god among men.
