10 Games That Will Win Major Awards In 2015

8. Dying Light

Award It Will Win: Best Zombie Game Dead Island might not have been perfectly executed but it brought some neat ideas to the table - the role playing mechanics and weapon systems surprisingly suited the zombie genre. It also featured some of the most satisfying melee combat seen in gaming for a long time. The series took a downward turn with Dead Island: Riptide - a sequel that really added nothing to the series - so developers Techland have instead turned to a new IP to try and reinvigorate the zombie genre; Dying Light. Yes, on the surface, it's basically a next-gen version of Dead Island. However, there's a whole bunch of new ideas and mechanics thrown into the mix which could completely alter the experience and make it an intense but fun game. Free running isn't uncommon in gaming nowadays but the glorious first-person visuals of Dying Light make moving, climbing and jumping look engaging and interesting. Plus, it makes sense to stay mobile and keep off the streets when the undead have decimated society. Intriguingly, day and night cycles play a huge role in Dying Light too. At night, the undead grow in strength and speed, making them far more dangerous. Utilising traps and stealth to move around in the dark will add a neat dose of caution to proceedings. In all honesty, Dying Light could simply be Dead Island with added flair but what's been shown of the game so far is definitely exciting. If it keeps the tension levels high and the thrills constant, it'll establish Techland as the best zombie developers in the business.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
