The Game You Wanted - Gran Turismo The premiere racing simulator of the era, Gran Turismo wowed Playstation gamers everywhere with its realism. The Game You Played - World Driver Championship Boss Game Studios N64 exclusive take on the genre that Gran Turismo helped pioneer. Was It A Worthy Substitute? Not even close. On a purely technical level, World Driver Championship was a fine game, blowing most other N64 racers out of the water in terms of graphics. But as a game that was clearly trying to provide a Gran Turismo alternative it fell well short of the mark. It didnt have nearly as much depth in its gameplay and the car selection was not only meagre compared to Gran Turismo, but the developers couldnt even get the actual licenses for the few cars they featured. The result was a game that asked you to both imagine that a Ram Venom GTR was a Dodge Viper, and then pretend you were playing Gran Turismo.
