What People Will Say: You're a sad, pathetic individual who has retreated into a less judgmental virtual world. There's a massive stigma surrounding World of Warcraft, because it's viewed as a game played by nerds who have become addicted to it in order to escape their rather unsavoury
real lives. So well-known is the game's reputation that it was even hilariously parodied on the show South Park, depicting the stereotype of World of Warcraft players (and incredulously, Blizzard even co-operated with the episode's production). I even know people who play the game in secret out of fear of embarrassment, and as a former addict myself, I have to admit that I would be careful who I brought the game up around - some people are instantly going to tar you with that "antisocial nerd" brush if you so much as utter the game's title. If anything, players shouldn't be embarrassed about playing it because it's a life-consuming MMO, but because it's not even the best one on the market...
