Patrick Munnik passed away in June at the age of 44. He was the lead producer at Guerilla Games at the time of his death. News of his passing was shared by Guerrilla via Twitter with the following:

"It is with great shock and sadness we inform you that our lead producer Patrick Munnik is no longer with us. We are eternally grateful to have had our greatly valued and much loved Patrick on our team."

Before starting work at Guerrilla in 2011, Munnik worked as a project manager at Navigram, a 3D design solution company, and before that, he worked at Getronics in information and communication technology services.

While working at Guerrilla, Munnik worked on some well-known titles, many of which sold very well. His most notable projects were the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn and Killzone: Shadow Fall, which was an important launch title for the PlayStation 4.

Neither Guerrilla Games nor Munnik's family have posted any information relating to the cause of his death, though it's clear from the many comments on Reddit and Twitter that he will be dearly missed by other members in the industry, as well as the fans of his games.
